Playfellow
Playfellow reichen uns die Hand und führen uns behutsam in ihr neues Album. Es ist eine sanfte Aufforderung: Lass dich tragen, lass dich gehen, dein Ohr hört und sieht. Es sieht imaginäre Landschaften und Räume, lichtdurchflutet und sommerwarm. Es hört zarte, märchenhafte Töne und wird unverhofft einer Dynamik ausgesetzt, der es sich nicht entziehen will und die bald den ganzen Körper erfasst. Ihr Sound konfrontiert uns mit der eigenen Anwesenheit. Er besitzt eine solche emotionale Wucht, dass er es vermag, Wasser in die Augen zu treiben. Melancholie ist ein zu kleines Wort dafür. Der Sound rührt an etwas zutiefst Existenziellem. Der facettenreiche Gesang ist vielfach so stark verwoben mit den Instrumenten, dass sie ihn schließlich in sich auflösen. Es ist unmöglich, davon nicht berührt zu werden
Playfellow reaching us their hand and lead us wary to their new album. It’ a gentle challenge: Let yourself go; your ears can hear and see. It sees imaginary landscapes and rooms, light flooded and summer warm. It hears tender, fairy tale-like sounds and is suddenly exposed by a dynamic, which soon catches the whole body. Their sound is filled witch such a great emotional weight, that it’s aware to bring one to tears. “Melancholy” is way too small for this. The multifaceted canto is strong entangled with the instruments. It’s impossible to not be touched by all this.
The Bronson Brothers
Vom musikalischen Standpunkt aus gesehen, war wohl der Verlust des Gitarristen der Auslöser, sich an einen neuen Musikstil heran zu wagen. Bisher hatte die Band aus fünf Musikern bestanden, deren Rollen klar verteilt waren. Man bewegte sich in einem 60`s-Universum, was deutlich wird, sobald man sich die ersten zwei Alben von The Bronson Brothers zu Gemüte führt.
Das neue Album „Blind“, ist hingegen das Ergebnis eines 3jährigen Wandlungsprozesses, während dessen die alten musikalischen Werte über den Haufen geworfen und durch neue Ideen und Gedanken ersetzt wurden. Was bedeutet es, in den Mittdreißigern zu sein, Frau, Kinder und einen Ganztagsjob zu haben und gleichzeitig darauf zu bestehen weiterhin das Leben in einer Rockband zu genießen?
Der Prozess war ein hartes Stück Arbeit, begleitet von Selbstreflexion und immerwährender Konfrontation mit alten Dogmen.
Doch gleichzeitig gab all dies The Bronson Brothers Auftrieb, Kraft und neue kreative Energie, um uns nun, zuletzt, ein Album präsentieren zu können, welches nur so strotzt vor einem neuen, innovativen, ehrlichen Sound, gemacht von einem Quartett.
Ein kühler, cooler nordischer Sound!
From a musical standpoint, the loss of the guitarist became the starting point new approach to writing music. Hitherto, the band had consisted of five musicians whose roles were clearly defined in a 60s universe, recognizable on the band’s first two albums.
The new album “Blind” is the culmination of a three-year process of change, where the old musical virtues of The Bronson Brothers were shattered and replaced by brand new thoughts on what it means to be in your midthirties, having a wife, kids and a day job, and at the same time insisting on living together in a rock band.
The process became an exercise of insight into one self and a vehement confrontation of old dogmas.
But it also became a renewed belief in the project and a coalition of the creative forces; The Bronson Brothers dropped the fancy fashion and found a new, honest sound in the constellation
as a quartet.
A cold cool nordic sound.
